The October 15, 2015 meeting of the Henderson Business and Professional Women's Club was held in the offices of Triangle North Healthcare Foundation on Garnett Street. Following an invocation by Donna Stearns and a generous. covered dish buffet, the club heard a presentation "The Path from Reporter to Publisher" by guest speaker Nancy Wykle, Editor and Publisher of the Henderson Daily Dispatch. Wylkle, an Asheville native, shared her experiences from her days on staff at the UNC school paper to her current position as Editor and Publisher of the Dispatch. The changes in newspaper production have been revolutionary, driven primarily by the tremendous development in technology and related changes in public expectation. The future of the newspaper business is both challenging and exciting. The Dispatch recognizes the importance of providing a voice for the community and being a source of local information.
A business session followed the presentation. Tickets were distributed for the raffle fundraiser featuring Maria Bailey's beautiful beige and brown crocheted afghan. The drawing will be held during the December 10th gathering. Members welcomed guest Patty McAnnaly. The meeting adjourned with the recitation of the club Collect.
